Danny Rose and Jose Mourinho’s feud at Tottenham is creating a bad vibe this week ahead of tonight’s Premier League clash with Norwich.
Leftback Rose and boss Mourinho have been at loggerheads over the coach’s reluctance to play the 29-year-old and claims in the media that he is unfit to play.
Rose has been left out for the last two matches - the FA Cup third-round replay win over Middlesbrough and Saturday’s goalless league draw with Watford.
On questions over whether the fullback was still in Mourinho’s plans, the Special One says: “Yeah, he is part of my plans.
“Last match, FA Cup match at home, very offensive team. We wanted to give another chance to [Ryan] Sessegnon to play 90 minutes.
“[Rose] had a little injury in his back, we made a decision to bring only fit players to a match that we knew was going to be physical.”
But Rose wasn’t having it and the pair were involved in a heated exchange in Sunday’s warm-down.
The two clashed with raised voices and onlookers describing “a big tension in the air”.
Then on Monday morning, Mourinho decided to take Rose aside as he and Rose had a one-to-one session.
Defender Toby Alderweireld, though, is only focused on building on the clean sheet against Watford in their last match.
The Belgian says: “Defensively it was not only a mental challenge but a physical one as well. We know it’s tough to play at Vicarage Road for the 90 minutes.
“Now we need to get three points against Norwich. It’s the same story but if we work like this and play like this, the three points will follow.”
