HELLO my good football people, I trust all is well your side... it’s certainly a bit nervy for me, squeaky bum time as we hit the business end of the season.
I’m still not confident of a Chelsea top-five finish (Champions League football next season), but Sunday’s 3-1 win against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge certainly gives great hope.
It was a game the Blues just had to win and leaves third, fourth and fifth place wide open for the five sides in contention after Newcastle fought back to earn a point at Brighton.
It’s strange, this season has felt poor for Chelsea, but here we sit just four points off “brilliant” Arsenal, who might not even finish second!
My (football) fantasy is Paris Saint-Germain knocking the Gunners out of the Champions League and Chelsea making a top-five finish. Both outcomes are very possible! What would this mean?
Well, after another season of big mouthed, arrogant, entitled Gooners taking the p**s out of me, we will actually be achieving exactly the same.

Haha, from “London is Red” to mutiny at the Emirates as Mikel Arteta falls short again. I must mention, despite him spending three quarters of a billion pounds and not winning a major honour in just under five-and-a-half years, I feel he has done a great job in putting Arsenal back on the map. But yeah, come on PSG!
Rewinding to the game on Sunday, of course there was a level of fight, commitment and energy Chelsea had that the Scousers didn’t.
They’ve done the hard work and won the title. It was still a decent Liverpool performance, they picked up cards and kept pushing towards the end for an equaliser.
But Chelsea were the better team and deserved the points. It was great to see Cole Palmer back to his best, capping a solid performance with a trademark cold penalty! Not sure I agreed with his man of the match award.
My top pick was Moises Caicedo. Worth every penny of his £100 million move. What a player, covering huge ground, winning tackles, distributing neatly. He really is growing into a traditional Stamford Bridge world-class holding midfielder, Calude Makelele and N’Golo Kante must have been watching that game like proud uncles! Meanwhile, I was coerced into driving to Kalk Bay for lunch on Sunday by the missus. It was lovely, but of course I had to sacrifice the start of the 3pm kickoffs.

Probably just as well as the West Ham-Spurs game was rubbish to watch and tuning into Brentford 4-1 up against Manchester United was a travesty to say the least. After putting one foot in the Europa League final, the reality of playing a decent team hit home.
Yeah, Brentford are a useful outfit, but how the mighty have fallen and it keeps getting worse. For most people, Ruben Amorim’s team are an absolute gift... one that keeps on giving!
Amorim looks like the kind of guy coaching a school football team. On a serious note, I’ve got a couple of very good friends whose lives have been seriously impaired by the state of their club, I’m growing into a bit of a softy in my old age and I feel sorry for them.
The biggest club in the world, sixth from the bottom.
That is no joke, these guys need to sort something out quickly, before financial problems take hold and before we know it, they become a permanent giant of the past. The Europa League has become so important, Amorim should stick the reserves on every week in the league to give his side the best chance of winning it, gaining back-door entry into the Champions League.
United and Spurs are both awful and both capable of beating each other. However, Ange Postecoglou has never retracted his claim that he “always wins something in his second season”.
I think his prophecy sticks! Looking at it from a fairness point of view. Is it fair that a team like Nottingham Forest (who have been outstanding this season) may just miss out on a top-five finish?
Chat next week, bye bye.
