Liverpool veteran James Milner is expecting a fired-up Watford this weekend as the Reds look to kick on from their solid start to the season.
Milner and his teammates are one point off the top of the Premier League and lead a tough Champions League group, which includes AC Milan, Porto and Atletico Madrid, who they visit next Tuesday.
The utility player says: “I think it’s a solid start with the games we’ve played.
“Obviously the Champions League group is pretty tricky… and unfortunately every game in the Premier League is tricky, isn’t it?
“So, it’s a solid start and we know that we can play better and there’s plenty to improve, so that’s the pleasing thing.”
Their immediate test will come from the Hornets, who Milner believes will be buzzing with Claudio Ranieri taking charge of his first game this Saturday.
The 35-year-old adds: “It seems to always happen to us, I think, when teams are maybe going through a sticky patch and the manager changes before we play them.
“That makes them more unpredictable, I think.”
