Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is hoping Luis Suarez doesn’t take a hap out of his Champions League title dream.
The Blues boss is a long-time admirer of the deadly Atletico Madrid striker, who has fired his team to the top of La Liga with 16 goals.
The German admitted that he was hoping to bring the Uruguayan to Paris St Germain just before he learned that he was going to lose his job for losing last season’s European Cup final to Bayern Munich.
But he was made aware of the Blues’ history with Suarez, who infamously bit then-Blues star Branislav Ivanovic while he was at Liverpool in April 2013.
Still Tuchel says of the former Barcelona ace: “We were interested [at PSG] because he is one the best forwards in world football.
“He decided to stay in Spain, move to Atletico, and has proven his quality.
“He is a born striker and has the mentality that only strikers have. This mentality is to show his will, intensity and anger to score, score.
“I’m not involved in his history with Chelsea and to me it’s never good to look in the past. We will try to stop him from scoring.”
In tonight’s other Euro clash, Bayern go to Lazio (10pm).
