Cecil Lolo’s Last Man Standing award was a massive victory for his whole family and a great send-off for the player.

And when we talk about family, it’s the late Ajax Cape Town star’s mother, his two young children, his teammates and his agent.

Leading up to the MTN8 final, the versatile ace said he would keep in-form Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese in his pocket and he did just that as Ajax lifted the trophy last September.

It turned out to be his last match before his death.

And his agent Grant Nieuwenhuys says when Lolo’s mom received his award on Monday night, it was a moment of great pride.

He says: “This is huge for his family, Ajax and our agency.

“His mother is so proud and she is thankful for all the support and congratulations she has received.

“I spoke with [Ajax CEO Ari [Efstathiou] and it was a great send-off for Lolo, who was a big part of the squad.

“He was a jovial character.

“We have a small agency and with lots of young players in the stable.

“And Lolo was certainly the one they all looked up to.

“And I’m sure he is proud looking down from above.

“It shows the youngsters what hard work can do.

“He would have had many other great moments in his career.”
