The PSL are finalising their plans to restart the league campaign after sports minister Nathi Mthethwa yesterday rubber-stamped their return-to-training protocols.
Having been told that the campaign can be completed behind closed doors, the league is still to decide between Gauteng and KZN as their safe bio-zone.
Dates for the restart will depend on clubs sticking to strict conditions to ensure the health and safety of players and staff, says acting CEO Mato Madlala.
She tells IOL: “Resumption of football has conditions.
“From now on, we will have to do the audit of where we are with those protocols that we have to follow as individual clubs.”
SOME NATIONAL SOCCER LEAGUE DIRECTIVES ON RETURN TO TRAINING
Prior to training:
All participants must provide proof of Covid-19 testing: one test at least 2-7 days prior to the resumption of training.
Anyone excluded by the screening process or who tests positive will not be permitted to resume training.
If screening results raise a concern, but the Covid-19 test is negative, the individual will not be permitted to train and will undergo Covid-19 testing 72 hours later.
A return to training can be expected around seven days after these testing dates.
Training protocols
Only the persons who are necessary for training purposes on the day in question will be permitted to be present at the training venue.
Deep sanitising of the facilities must be done prior to the resumption of training and daily cleaning must be done prior to the arrival of players and/or staff each training day
Any persons “red-flagged” for any reason before, at, or after a match must be reported to the Member Club and the League.
