New Zealand thrashed Argentina 38-0 in a Tri-Nations rematch in Newcastle on Saturday to gain a measure of revenge for their stunning loss to the Pumas two weeks ago and snap a two-match losing streak.
The All Blacks scored five tries to earn a bonus-point win and put one one hand on the Tri Nations trophy.
It was a case of going back to basics for New Zealand, who lost to Australia before also going down the Pumas.
They dominated at the set pieces, ran hard, with their kicking game placing the Pumas under pressure.
Captain Sam Cane couldn’t be happier with the result as they also kept the Pumas scoreless, saying: “Extremely satisfying. There’s no hiding that we’ve had a tough three weeks. We felt the pain of the loss.
“I’m proud of the way that we were able to stay patient and got there in the end.”
New Zealand – Tries: Dane Coles, Ardie Savea, Will Jordan (2) and Patrick Tuipulotu; Conversions: Richie Mo’unga (5).
