Cape Town City ace Kermit Erasmus will be unveiled as a Mamelodi Sundowns player today in a big blow to the Citizens.
The 30-year-old striker leaves in a cash-plus-player deal, with former City winger Aubrey Ngoma returning to the Mother City after failing to settle at the PSL champions following his 2018 transfer.
Erasmus is not the only City player to exit this week, with leftback Ebrahim Seedat signing for PSL newcomers TS Galaxy.
City are, however, hard at work restocking their squad ahead of the October 17 MTN8 kickoff, with “an international striker” to replace Erasmus among those set to be announced this week.
Erasmus finished last season on fire, scoring four goals in the bio-bubble to fire City to a six-placed PSL finish, and has been called up to Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki’s latest squad where he will be joined by former City teammates midfielder Thabo Nodada and defender Abbubaker Mobara.
Ntseki named a 25-man squad for this week’s upcoming international friendlies against Namibia (October 8) and Zambia (October 11) ahead of a congested Afcon 2021 qualifying campaign.
And the Bafana boss says: “We have called up a number of youngsters to get the feel of the national team set up and that is very critical.
“It is critical that we broaden the database and increase the number and quality of players ready to play for Bafana Bafana. So this mixture is important as part of preparations for future assignments.”
