Stormers looseforward Willie Engelbrecht believes they are blessed in the backrow department with the talent of the youngsters coming through at the franchise.
As they gear up to face Italy’s Zebre in the first ever United Rugby Championship match at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, the Stormers no longer have grootname such as Siya Kolisi and Juarno Augustus in their ranks.
Instead, it’s Engelbrecht, 29, new superstar Evan Roos, Nama Xaba and Junior Pokomela running the back three of the scrum.
Of the unit, Engelbrecht says: “Nama and Junior are performing well at six and Evan has been playing some of the best rugby we’ve seen him play in a while.
“I’m obviously one of the older guys, but it’s nice to learn some stuff from the youngter guys and to see their energy.”
Of his form, he adds: “I’m getting where I want it to be,I know I can always get better. Even when I’m on top form, I know I can do better.”
Engelbrecht will be looking to shine as the Stormers hunt back-to-back wins after Wales’ Dragons in their last match on tour.
