Foemer Springbok and Stormers centre Jean de Villiers believes the Lions will get past the Jaguares in their Super Rugby quarterfinal at Ellis Park on Saturday.
De Villiers also believes the Lions’ road to the final means they have a good chance of lifting the title at the end of the campaign.
De Villiers explains: “Playing at home is a great opportunity for the Lions as is getting that second spot. They might not have to play a New Zealand side in the semifinal.
“Maybe in that semifinal a Chiefs or Hurricanes will beat the Crusaders and we can have a final at Ellis Park and the Lions can still win this.”
As for the Sharks, De Villiers believes they will need some Madiba Magic if they want to advance in the tournament against defending champs Crusaders.
He adds: “The Crusaders have been outstanding and it will be a tough task.
“On the dawn of what would have been the 100th birthday of Tata Madiba hopefully that can inspire those guys to give so much more.”
