After doing their homework on the Boks and getting some insider info on the South Africans from former Stormers player Quinn Roux, rookie lock Ultan Dillane says they will have a no-fear approach to the match.
Dillane, a first-time visitor to South Africa, says: “He [Roux] has done a bit of analysis on a few players having been with the Stormers.
“[And] he’s saying ‘have no fear’ and that’s why we’re ready for it.”
Not fearing the Springboks doesn’t mean Dillane has no respect for Allister Coetzee’s charges and of the Boks he adds: “We’re looking forward to a big challenge. They have a great side, plenty of experience in there with [Duane] Vermeulen, [Francois] Louw and [Beast] Mtawarira.
“[It might be a] new [side], but it’s strong all the same.
“They’ve got guys like [Siya] Kolisi that are coming through, which are real strong players in that team.”
Dillane expects the Boks to come at them hard and says: “Something you know before coming over here is that it will be a massive physical challenge.”
A lot has been made of the fact that Ireland has suffered some injuries ahead of the Test, but Dillane is confident that their team will still put in a big fight.
