South Africa’s rugby stars are mere fans this weekend as their New Zealand counterparts kick off their Super Rugby tournament on Saturday.
Not being able to take the field since March when the coronavirus pandemic brought a halt to Super Rugby, SA’s manne are uitgehonger to see the game live.
Stormers and Springbok prop Steven Kitshoff will wake up bright and early on Saturday morning and, like the rest of us, take his position in front of the telly and not in the front row of a scrum.
It hurts not playing, but Kitshoff just wants to see some action.
He says: “You miss the sport so much and just to be able to see it again - two teams going flat our against each other - I’m very excited.
“It’s going to be very interesting to see what it looks like after this whole pandemic.”
