Jordan Henderson has hit back at Roy Keane and says he is fit and ready to help England at the upcoming Euros.
Liverpool midfielder Henderson played his first 45 minutes of football since his February groin surgery in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Romania on Sunday.
His presence in Gareth Southgate’s squad was previously mocked by his former Sunderland boss Keane, who said: “Does he do card tricks? Does he have a sing-song? Does he do quizzes in the evening? What does he do?”
But Henderson hit back ahead of Sunday’s opener against Croatia. Asked if he is ready to contribute to England’s cause, he says: “Yeah, and the card tricks he [Keane] was on about. I’ve got a few of them up my sleeve.”
He adds: “I want to come here and I want to contribute in the games. How much of that is not really down to me, it’s up to the manager.”
