Stellenbosch boss Steve Barker is demanding nothing less than maximum points from tonight’s 5.30pm PSL clash against Orlando Pirates at Danie Craven Stadium.
With his still-unbeaten Stellies side flying high in second on the log with 21 points, Barker reckons they are favourites against the eighth-placed Soweto giants, who are struggling for form.
Having seen his side throw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with AmaZulu at the weekend, Barker is calling on his manne to come reg.
He says: “It is important in a short turnaround that we get over these things quickly and refocus in a big match against Orlando Pirates
“I feel like for the first time in this league we can go into a game against Pirates feeling that we can get maximum points.”
Meanwhile, striker Ashley du Preez is hungry to add to his five goals this term as they look to lift their game and end a run of two draws in the visit of the Pirates.
He says: “I think it’s going to be a tough one, because they will come out strongly to win that game.
“But for us, our resilience, team work and hunger needs to be more coming into the game.
“I will be so happy to get the points.
“With the unbeaten run, we are doing a lot of things right. Things were are working on in training are falling into place.”
Today’s other PSL fixtures: Gallants v Maritzburg (5pm), Chiefs v AmaZulu, Sundowns v SuperSport (both 5.30pm).
