Not only will it be a repeat of last season’s Super Rugby quarterfinal, which the Stormers lost 60-21, but it will also be the first time this year that the Stormers will face New Zealand opposition.
On top of this, coach Robbie Fleck and his team know there might be a large contingent of Kaapse Kiwi fans at Newlands.
But the Stormers boss welcomes the challenge and says he just wants the game to be played in front of a packed stadium.
Fleck explains: “I would love it if we can get a full Newlands.
“It’s such an important game for both teams – both teams are unbeaten [and] it’s an important game for South African rugby to see how far we’ve come.
“I think it will be a great spectacle, whether you’re a Chiefs supporter or a Stormers supporter.
“It will be good to see how far we’ve come.
“It was obviously disappointing last year in that quarterfinal and we’ve had to live with that.”
