A Total of 2 000 Stormers fans are set to make history on Saturday, becoming the first mense to watch the Streeptrui live at their new Cape Town Stadium home.
The Stormers officially swapped Newlands for Cape Town Stadium at the start of this season, but despite having already played a number of matches at the venue have been unable to host fans because of Covid-19.
That’s about to change on Saturday when they host Zebre and 2 000 Kaapse mense in the United Rugby Championship clash at 3pm.
Tickets were on sale exclusively to season ticket holders until yesterday - unsold tickets would then be made available to the public.
Welcoming fans back, Stormers coach John Dobson tells the team’s website: “One of the biggest challenges over the last 18 months has been playing without our fans there and we are expecting the Faithful to give our players an enormous lift, even though they will be in limited numbers for now.”
He adds: “The tour to Europe to start the season was a great experience for all involved and we feel we made great strides in terms of our game, so we are keen to showcase what we are capable of on home soil with our fans cheering us on from the stands.”
