Proteas yster David Miller believes they have a duidelike plan to win the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Starting their soektog for gold against Australia on Saturday, Miller’s motto for the tournament is “Yolo” – you only live once.
Asked about the pressure of becoming the first South African cricket team to win a World Cup, Miller says: “You only live once and it’s about making the most of your opportunity and having fun while doing it.
“There is a new crop of players in the team and there is always excitement around it.
“We’re definitely going into this comp with a clear blueprint of what’s been working in the last couple of months.
“I feel like if we just stick to our blueprint and not overcomplicate things and just enjoy the simple blueprint, there’s going to be a good opportunity to do really well.”
South Africa finished off their preparation for the tournament with their final warm-up match against Pakistan on Wednesday and got a big scare when Tabraiz Shamsi failed to finish his first over because of a tight groin.
Spinner Shamsi took no further part in the match, as Pakistan posted 186/6 batting first.
Temba Bavuma (46 off 42 balls) and Rassie van der Dussen (101* off 51) then shared a 107-run partnership for the third wicket after an early collapse.
After Bavuma departed, Van der Dussen continued to single-handedly win the match for SA, as they chased down 29 runs off the last two overs to win by six wickets.
