Faf du Plessis wants his Proteas to play tomorrow’s Newlands ODI series decider like a World Cup knockout game.
The five-match contest is tied at 2-2 and heading into the fifth and final clash, it’s crunch time for the South Africans, who were hammered by eight wickets on Sunday.
And with the World Cup coming up in May, the skipper wants his manne to get their heads into the big games and score a series victory.
Faf says: “We want to get better at these big games. We have to look at them as knockout games.
“And that’s how we are looking at this game. It’s 2-2, if you lose, you lose the series.
“It’s good for us to go through that as a team.”
After the drubbing at the Wanderers, when they only scored 164 with the bat, Faf admits coach Ottis Gibson will want to freshen up the side.
He explains: “I can see some of the guys are tired. It’s really important that we look at guys coming in as well.
“There are a few tired bodies on the field and that’s a concern.”
