Dane Piedt steered the Cape Cobras to an innings and 71-run victory over the Lions at the Wanderers on Wednesday.
The Capetonians were on fire in the four-day Sunfoil Series clash, finishing the match inside three days.
And captain Piedt was the star of the show, taking 7/118 as they bowled out the hosts for 354 in their second innings.
It was a much better performance with the bat by the Lions, who were bowled out for just 104 in their first innings with the Cobras replying with 529 in their only innings.
The Lions resumed their second innings on 11/0 yesterday morning.
And after losing captain Omphile Ramela for 12 early on, they were once again on the back foot.
Opener Stephen Cook (103) combined well with Dominic Hendricks for a third-wicket stand of 93.
But every time the Lions looked like bouncing back, Piedt struck.
Hendricks (45) was his first scalp. After he also removed Cook for 103, the Lions were on 214/4 when Wihan Lubbe and Nicky van der Bergh joined forces.
The pair put on 127 runs for the fifth wicket before Piedt struck twice in one over, removing Van der Bergh (73) and Dwaine Pretorius (0) to make it 341/6.
As long as Lubbe was there, the Lions still had a bietjie hoop. But Piedt took that away when he removed Lubbe for 81 for his fifth wicket, before cleaning up the tail.
