Taking the position of Team Director of the Proteas is not a suicide mission says interim boss Enoch Nkwe.
With many scribes feeling the 36-year-old is perhaps set up for failure because he is so young and with some senior players having stepped down after the World Cup disappointment, Nkwe says: “I don’t feel it’s a suicide mission.
“I strongly believe that every opportunity is a challenge.
“As a player you dream of achieving [national colours] and as a coach you want to do the same.
“I couldn’t say no - it really excited me and I’m extremely motivated”
He adds: “If I really felt I wasn’t ready - I would have said no.”

Nkwe’s assignment as interim boss is a tough one as he takes the team to India for three T20Is and three Tests.
But he believes he can turn around the team and help the players get over their World Cup blues.
Nkwe explains: “We can make a quick turnaround, I strongly believe we have the players.
“We have to identify areas that held back the team and didn’t allow them to perform to their full potential and work on them.
“It’s important that we, as team management, create that thriving environment as soon as possible.
“We’re confident enough that the players will be in a better space after [what happened at] the World Cup.”
