The Proteas have roped in in-form allrounder Wiaan Mulder for the ODI series decider against Pakistan at Newlands on Wednesday (1pm).
With the series deadlocked at 2-2, the 20-year-old Lions star returns to the setup after injuring his ankle in the last of his seven one-dayers in September.
Since getting back to action at the start of the year, he has helped the Lions challenge for the 4-Day Series title with 4/40 against the Titans and a career-best 146 against the Knights.
He is set to challenge for the allrounder berth with Andile Phehlukwayo and Dwaine Pretorious also in the mix, but the Proteas could also drop a number of their Test stars, like Kagiso Rabada, who looks uitgeput.
The ICC World Cup trophy was also in the Cape on its world tour and opposition skippers Faf du Plessis and Shoaib Malik both want to get their hands on it.
However, Faf reckons India and hosts England are favourites for the title.
Challenging his squad to win the current series and earn a ticket to England in May, he says: “I suppose we’re going there with a little less pressure on the team - in terms of going there with the expectations of winning it.
“It’s pretty clear that England and India are the favourites to win it. It’s a nice way of us as a team going there.
“It’s young group in our squad and there are guys in this series looking to get into that World Cup 15.”
