The Proteas will look to secure both limited-overs series Down Under when they face Australia in a one-off T20 at Carrara on Saturday at 10.20 am.
Having won the ODI series 2-1 the Proteas were left a bit frustrated because of the scheduling of the series, having to wait almost a week for the T20 to be played.
Luckily they got some midweek action when they beat an Australia XI on Wednesday.
Big-hitting batsman Heinrich Klaasen explains: “The T20 game [midweek game] helped. It’s not ideal to play just one T20 game and if we played it [earlier in the week it would have] been better.”
With the Proteas missing Dale Steyn, who flew back to South Africa already, Klaasen knows it will take a special effort from the batsmen to get them over the line.
And it’s his special shot - the reverse sweep - that has the Aussies worried ahead of the match.
Of the stroke, Klaasen says: “It worked on it in past and now it’s just when to do it, it depends on field placement as well.
“I’ve been hitting the ball well [in the midweek game] and those things come naturally. It’s about picking the field and playing to the field placings.”
