Cape Town Blitz will be boosted by the return of their Proteas stars ahead of Wednesday’s Mzansi Super League match against Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at Newlands (7 pm).
Having won both their opening games on the weekend, the Cape Town-based franchise will welcome Quinton de Kock and Andile Phehlukwayo to their squad, while captain Farhaan Behardien will also be available for the clash.
Of the additions to their squad, coach Ashwell Prince says: “There are going to be some tough selection decisions to be made. But it is also exciting to have the Proteas, who are unbelievable cricketers in this format.”
Prince also praised Pakistan star Asif Ali after he smashed a tournament-high 80 runs in their three-wicket win over Durban Heat on Sunday.
He adds: “Asif Ali had one day’s preparation in the nets and the way he was striking the ball and some of the targets he set himself in practice - he set himself some massive targets to achieve - I sort of knew he has the ability to hit the ball a long way. We were a long way behind and he played an unbelievable innings.”
