Hashim Amla is still in coach Ottis Gibson’s plans for the World Cup in England in May.
Amla missed the Proteas’ last few limited overs matches because of family commitments and also didn’t play in yesterday’s One Day Cup semifinal for the Cobras against the Titans.
But Gibson, who says he has had his 15-man squad for a while now, won’t penalise the 35-year-old star for his absence.
Gibson explains: “Hashim Amla is still very much part of the plans, he’s nursing his very sick father and we won’t know more until that changes.”

Of his squad selection, Gibson says: “I’ve had my 15 for a while, now I sit with my fingers crossed, praying that nobody picks up anything too serious. “The selection process for the squad is 99.9 percent complete.
“Everyone is in such good form at the moment, the confidence is high and there’s a great team spirit.”
While that will come as good news to some, it will leave a sour taste in the mouths of others who were looking to force their way into the team via the domestic One Day Cup.
With the Cobras and the Titans having played their knockout game yesterday, it will be the turn of the Warriors and the Dolphins today when they clash in the other semifinal in Durban at 1.30pm.
