The fifth ODI between South Africa and India in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday (1pm) just got a lot more interesting.
With SA trailing the six-match series 3-1 heading into the fifth encounter, this match will be personal for the hosts and especially spin bowler Imran Tahir.
The usually calm Tahir is at the centre of controversy at the moment after a video featuring him in a heated argument with some fans at the Wanderers in the Pink ODI last Saturday went viral on social media.
Cricket South Africa released a statement on Monday, saying: “Imran Tahir was verbally and racially abused by an unknown man during the fourth One-Day International (ODI) against India at the Wanderers on Saturday.
“Tahir reported the incident to the stadium security, and was subsequently accompanied by two security personnel to identify and to have the man ejected from the stadium.
“Tahir made no physical contact with the offender or any of the children in the vicinity. The incident is under investigation with the CSA and stadium security teams.”
The video shows Tahir in an altercation with a fan believed to be a supporter of the tourists.
