There is still everything to play for in today’s final day of the T20 Challenge round-robin stage.
The Cape Cobras tackle the Lions in the first match at 10am with a mathematical chance of making the playoffs, but coach Ashwell Prince will know that his team needs a miracle to finish in third place.
As it stands, the Capetonians are in fifth place – five points behind the third-placed Warriors after the men from Port Elizabeth beat the Knights by 17 runs yesterday.
To leapfrog them, the Capetonians not only need a bonus-point win over the second-placed Lions, who have already qualified for the playoffs, but they have to do so with a big margin to make up the net run rate.
Even if they manage to go past the Warriors, all their efforts will be in vain if the Titans beat log leaders the Dolphins in the final group match at 2.30pm today.
Victory for the Titans will secure them a top-three place, alongside the Dolphins and the Lions.
The teams placed second and third face off in a playoff on tomorrow, with the winner facing the top-ranked team in the final on Sunday.
