Coach Ashwell Prince’s Cape Cobras suffered their second defeat in as many matches in the T20 Challenge on Sunday, going down by 16 runs to the Titans in Durban.
Prince’s slange are bottom of the log after also losing to the Dolphins by 14 runs in their first match of the weekend on Friday.
In both matches, Cobras captain Tony de Zorzi lost the coin flip, with their opponents deciding to set the Capetonians a target.
And it was dieselfde storie in both outings, with the Dolphins posting 155/8 on Friday and the Titans getting 148/6 on Sunday.
While those targets are not the most difficult to get, the Cobras made heavy work of it.
De Zorzi (39) and Christiaan Jonker (41*) tried their best on Friday, but could only get their team to 141/7.
They again couldn’t chase down a score on Sunday, only getting to 132 all out.
De Zorzi (23) again tried to lead from the front with bat in hand, with Proteas spin bowler George Linde top-scoring with 37.
But the Cobras will have to go back to the drawing board if they want to get out of their current hole.
With no wins in the T20 Challenge to date, no wins in the 4-Day Franchise Series in five outings and a semifinal appearance in the 1Day Cup to show for their efforts so far this season, Prince will be under pressure to turn things around.
Their next match is against the Knights today at 10am.
