The Cape Cobras will be out to break their three-match losing streak against the winless Warriors today (10am).
Coach Ashwell Prince’s manne will be hoping their luck changes after they suffered their third straight loss of the T20 Challenge clash on Monday, rooting them to the bottom of the log.
After skipper Tony de Zorzi won the toss and decided to get first use of the wicket at Kingsmead, the Cobras must have thought they were on the way to their first win of the season after posting the biggest total of the tournament to date – 167/5.
Zubayr Hamza recorded his career-best score and the competition’s highest score to date, a blistering 77 off 49 balls (10 fours, 2 sixes).
He flourished alongside fellow Protea Kyle Verreynne (45) in an 88-run third-wicket partnership.
With Allan Donald’s manne needing 19 off the last over with seven wickets down, the Cobras threw the ball to Ziyaad Abrahams.
But with 16 needed off the final three balls, Migael Pretorius (19* off eight) smashed two sixes.
Abrahams then overstepped, one of a whopping 27 extras, before Pretorius snatched the game with a four on the final ball.
