Cape Town City boss Jan Olde Riekerink faces a juggling act as he looks to book a place in the Nedbank Cup semifinals this weekend.
City face three big games in the space of five days, with Sunday’s quarterfinal against Chippa United being the first of a double header with the Chilli Boys, who they tackle again in the PSL on Wednesday before a Friday league derby with Stellenbosch on Friday.
With in-form striker Tashreeq Morris and Craig Martin both on three yellows, they are one short of a one-match suspension.
And the boss is wary of that and the freshness of his players coming into the game.
The Dutchman says: “We face a very special few days in which we face Chippa twice.
“We have no priority about which game we have to win or draw or lose, because the league and the Nedbank Cup are just as important.
“We play in the Nedbank Cup to win it, not just compete and make up the numbers. That’s our main focus. And we will be very motivated and for the league game.
“They are a tough opponent.
“Then we have a derby with Stellenbosch so we have to use the whole squad to be competitive in all three matches. But most important is getting into the next round first.”
