Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel’s joy at a record 4-0 Champions League thumping of Juventus was soured by injuries to stars N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.
The Blues gave the Italians their biggest European defeat to progress from Group H with a game to spare, with substitute Timo Werner’s late strike completing the rout after goals from Trevor Chabolah, Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
But midfielder Kante went off in the first half before Chilwell followed in the 71st minute after both suffered knee injuries.
And Tuchel says: “Chilly has a sharp pain in the knee and he was in a lot of pain.
“It’s the same with N’Golo. He twisted his knee a little bit but hopefully it’s not too bad.
“These were the only two sad things because N’Golo was again fantastic until the moment when he went off and Chilly is in a fantastic moment and is also important.
“Let’s hope for the best.”
