Chelsea will go all out to become the first team in this year’s Champions League campaign to qualify for the last 16.
Up against Rennes in France, the Blues and Sevilla, who face Krasnodar, enjoy a six-point lead over their two Group E rivals, with victories for each of them guaranteeing a place in the round of 16.
Kicking off at the same time, Chelsea are currently in first place on the log with a superior goal difference.
Speaking ahead of their trip to France, Blues striker Timo Werner says: “We want to win [in Rennes] with a good performance. And then we want to battle it out with Sevilla for first place in the group.”
Werner will be out to prove a point on a personal level too, with teammate Mason Mount having slammed him for missing a first-half chance in their 2-0 win over Newcastle on the weekend.
Mount said: "He’s a top player and he needs to be harsh on himself to score those. He knows that and, if it comes next week, he’ll put it away.”
