Ajax Cape Town coach Calvin Marlin has warned his manne have to be on top of their game when they tackle PSL side Black Leopards in today’s 3pm promotion playoff game.
The Urban Warriors had to come from behind to beat fellow GladAfrica Championship (NFD) side Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila 3-2 thanks to Kegan Johannes’s late goal in the six-match mini-tournament opener on Sunday.
And Marlin knows the top-flight team will be less forgiving in the tournament which sees each team playing the others twice.
Ahead of the Soccer City showdown, the boss says: “I think we’ve got to get a little bit better on the ball, better tactically.
“We must just remember our roles on the field, what we need to do.
“We also need to be more pressure on the other teams.
Having said that, the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper believes that, with three points in the bag after one game, his PSL hopefuls have already turned the heat up on caretaker coach Morgan Shivambu’s Lidoda Duvha side.
Marlin adds: “We have three points from the first game and that immediately puts the pressure on the other teams.
“You have to be in the driving seat and we are with the three points.”
The Ajax boss will be sweating on a number of his go-to players after an exhausting first outing.
Veteran winger Thabo Mosadi looks set to miss the game due to injury after coming on for top goalscorer Abednigo Mosiatlhaga, who hasn’t completed 90 minutes in his two games back in the side.
