Geordie boorling Andy Carroll is
jikking for a goal when Newcastle go to Bournemouth in the Premier League tonight.
The former Liverpool striker has set up five goals for his teammates in an injury-hit season since returning to his boyhood club at the start of the campaign, but he is yet to score himself.
Of his form, he says: “It’s been a stop-start season for all of us and especially me. I’d like to think I am not just about scoring goals.
“A striker’s job is to create chances and something I really enjoy doing.”
Carroll must now wait to see if he retains his place at the Vitality Stadium.
And while the relegation-threatened Cherries look like an easy side to pick off on paper down in 18th on the log, Carroll reckons it’s going to be a tough game.
He warns: “They are down at the
bottom, so we know they are fighting for their lives.
“It’s going to be a hard game, we just have to get right for it.”
