Cape Town City boss Eric Tinkler believes his manne could have nicked all three PSL log points after their goalless stalemate with Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.
Hosting their MTN8 final conquerors at Cape Town Stadium, City found the right focus to deny the PSL champions a goal, but failed to breach the Brazilians, who are yet to concede in the league campaign.
Fagrie Lakay came close twice in the first half, before goalkeeper Hugo Marquez made a flying save from Haashim Domingo’s 35th-minute freekick.
City striker Taahir Goedeman, in his first start, nearly had his name in lights with 20 minutes after a great one-two with Lakay, but Denis Onyango got down quickly to save.
With his team still outside the top eight, Tinkler says: “We could have been more direct on the counters, but I’ll take the point because of the quality we played against.
“But maybe we could have stolen it.”
Adding of Goedeman’s game: “Usually he bangs that into the top corner”.
