Ex-Stormers centre Damian de Allende is one of a handful of South African rugby players still stuck in Japan.
Capetonian De Allende left the Stormers at the start of the current season and played for the Panasonic Wild Knights at the time coronavirus hit the world.
With South Africa going into lockdown last week, De Allende and a number of SA players were looking to return to Mzansi.
Some were lucky, others weren’t as De Allende is still stuck in the Land of the Rising Sun alongside Springbok teammates Malcolm Marx and RG Snyman.
Fellow international star and Capetonian Duane Vermeulen, meanwhile, found his way back home on a flight via Ethiopia.
Back in Durbanville, Vermulen shared a video in which he made a pizza and said: “Today while in a 21-day lockdown with my family we are thinking of you [Italy] as a nation.
Your country has a very special place in our hearts as both of my boys gave their very first steps in Italy.
“Making pizzas in honour of all the Italian people.

“All the best.
“Our prayers are with you.
