As if Manchester City can’t get any better, coach Pep Guardiola has been boosted by the return to fitness of Kevin de Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan.
They are available this weekend for City’s trip to Arsenal as they chase a record-extending 18th win in a row.
Premier League Player of the Year De Bruyne came off the bench after a long-term injury in Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory at Everton, while the club’s record goalscorer Aguero rested on the sidelines.
In-form Gundogan will be back after missing the win on Merseyside with a groin strain.
After seeing Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva brush the Toffees aside, Pep says of his record-breaking team: “It’s never been done before, it is nice, but like I say many times, the next target is Arsenal.”
Meanwhile, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is hoping one of his big-name players can find some form, as he took aim at under-performing Willian.
He says of criticism of the former Chelsea star: “I don’t say it’s unfair because expectations are really high in terms of the goals he can score, the assists he can create.
“You expect him to be in the starting lineup, so it is normal that people write things about him.
“What he is doing, the way he is training, the way he is working and the way he is pushing to give everything at the team, is what I demand.
“Whether he is more or less successful in the game is another matter.
“It will come, with the quality he has.”
