Steve Barker warns that South African football is in for a groot skrik when he unleashes Stellenbosch’s young players on the PSL next season.
The Bolanders struggled in the league this term, surviving a relegation battle.
Coach Barker puts their tough times down to “second-season syndrome”, having been promoted at the start of the 2019-2020 campaign.
But he also believes that the difficulties of the last term have forged highly-rated laaities Jayden Adams, Deano van Rooyen, Lelethu Skelem, Ashley du Preez and Roy-Keane Avontuur into men.
He says: “We’ve grown as a squad. A lot of the young kids have become men in the process.
“I don’t know how to put it, but South Africa is going to be shocked and surprised by the young talent that we have at this club.
“This club has a bright future.
“There is a lot of good talent and I’m looking forward to unleashing them next season.”
