Paul Pogba says he would bench himself after finding out that Manchester United win more games when he is not playing.
According to statistics, United only win 1.9 points per game with the French midfielder starting, but pick up 2.2 points per game on average when the World Cup winner is a substitute.
When the fact was put to him, he told French TV channel Canal+: “So you have to put me on the bench then!
“I had not seen this statistic. If the team does better without me, I would totally understand that the coach would put me on the bench.
“It’s a good challenge for me anyway. I hope it turns to the other side. I hope people will win more with me than without me.”
Pogba adds that he is also more relaxed about his more defensive role in the team now, saying: “I have other qualities than those of being a match winner. It’s a N’Golo Kante role.”
