Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta knows his hour glass is running out at the club.
After leading the Gunners to their worst start to a Premier League campaign yet, Arteta is under fire.
But the Spaniard says he doesn’t skrik for the axe after a 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday left Arsenal in 14th place on the log with just 13 points from 10 matches.
Unai Emery was sacked as Arsenal coach a year to the day on Sunday when the club were sitting eighth.
As they gear up to face high-flying Tottenham in Saturday’s north London derby, Arteta says: “It’s something that the day I decided to be a coach I knew that one day I would be sacked or leave the football club but I don’t know when that is going to happen.
“In this profession, I know it will happen but I never worry about it. My only concern is to get the best out of the players and give the best to the club.”
Arteta admits that, after defender Gabriel scored only their 10th goal of the campaign and the second in the last six games, his attack must improve.
Gabriel’s header was sandwiched by Pedro Neto and Daniel Podence strikes and Arteta says: “We can beat anybody but we can lose as well because the margins are so minimal.
“We want to start to score more goals, obviously. The mountain is a big one to climb.”
Meanwhile, Wolves striker Raul Jimenez is “comfortable” after an operation on a fractured skull after a sickening clash of heads with David Luiz early in the match.
