Kaizer Chiefs will come into their PSL clash against Cape Town City this weekend vol gees after beating AmaZulu 1-0 on Wednesday.
In a clash between master and apprentice, sukkeling Gavin Hunt got the better of Benni McCarthy’s Usuthu in a physical clash settled by the fit-again striker Samir Nurkovic, as Amakhosi claimed only their second win of the season.
With Chiefs’ attack gutted by injuries, the Serbian capitalised on a poor clearance by the AmaZulu’s defence to sweep home a volley for the opener in the 11th minute of his first start of the season.
Chiefs showed determination to get the result, defending in numbers to deny free-flowing AmaZulu in the opening exchanges, before dominating the game physical challenges as the game became more tense.
McCarthy’s team only managed one shot target during the match with second-half substitute Lehlohonolo Majoro’s tame 77th-minute easily dealt with, as Usuthu once again failed to beat Chiefs in a home fixture in the PSL era.
