Liverpool are one step closer to landing a new No.1 after having a world-record £67m bid for Roma goalkeeper Alisson accepted on Wednesday.
The Reds offered £62m on Tuesday night for the Brazil goalkeeper and after negotiations with harregat Roma sporting director Monchi overnight, upped their bid to land the deal.
Reports claim Liverpool are prepared to pay £58.5m up front for the 25-year-old with a further £9m in add-ons.
Their offer has dwarfed the current record for a keeper, which was set when Manchester City landed £35m Ederson last term.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to replace Loris Karius.
The German was at fault for two goals in Liverpool’s 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid in the Champions League final, but it was later found that he had concussion.
But Karius has made a poor start to pre-season, producing a clanger in a pre-season match against Tranmere Rovers last week, convincing Klopp that it was time to get a new man in.
Alisson, meanwhile, has impressed since making his Serie A debut for Roma last season.
He was instrumental in his side’s run to the Champions League semifinal, with the Giallorossi keeping a clean sheet at their home ground until their 4-2 loss to Liverpool in the second leg.
His form won him the No.1 jersey for Brazil and played all five games, keeping three clean sheets, before being knocked out at the quarterfinal stage of the World Cup by Belgium.
