The African continent is planning to modify the IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federation) and its highly successful Diamond League meetings to showcase the continent's best performers.
This idea comes from The Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) who want to organise an annual one-day Africa tour meeting.
The CAA has already experimented with this format in Asaba, Nigeria, were the African Senior Championships are taking place. This trial included athletes from some countries who are participating in Nigeria.
They were Mozambique, Togo, Ghana, Uganda and Senegal. As things stand only Rabat in Morocco has a leg in the 14-stage IAAF Diamond League Meetings.
