Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp maak hom laat if he thinks he didn’t spend money to win the league.
Last week, Klopp said the current champs are a “different kind” of club, one “not owned by countries or an oligarch” after making only one £12m signing compared to Chelsea spending over £200m. But Lampard, whose new-look Blues kicked off their campaign at Brighton last night, says: “I found it slightly amusing…
“And the reality is probably, other than maybe Leicester, which is an incredible story, most clubs that win the Premier League in the modern day have recruited well and recruited at a high level money-wise.
“And you can go through the Liverpool players: [Virgil] van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, [Naby] Keita, [Sadio] Mane, [Mo] Salah, incredible players, that came at a very high price.”
