This year’s Super League B tournament couldn’t have been more exciting.
Heading into the last few matches, the top five all still have a chance of finishing in first place during the regular season.
As it stands, that position belongs to Helderberg after they beat Kraaifontein 25-15 last weekend thanks to a brace of tries by George Claasen.
That win took them to 50 log points with one match left to play – against the team placed second in the league, Franschhoek.
What a way to bring an end to the season.
A win for Helderberg in Strand will end their visitors’ chances of catching the log leaders, while defeat for Die Berge can still see them miss out on a top-three spot altogether, with other teams having more games in hand.
Franschhoek, though, will make the trip to Strand full of confidence after they scored nine tries – three of them belonging to Anthony Adonis – in their 62-22 mauling of Rangers last weekend.
And with Helderberg struggling to get past Kraaifontein, Franschhoek will smell blood.
With two games left, the result will also be of great interest to Paarl, who currently lie in third place.
They face Hands and Heart on Saturday and if they can bag a full house of points, will move up to 51 log points.
That means they will go past the loser of the match and move into second spot.
All first team games kick off at 4pm
