The National First Division’s top team Stellenbosch were defeated 1-0 in their catch-up match against Real Kings away at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.
Stellies’ lead is now only three points with six matches left to play this season.
They will host Pretoria University at their Idas Valley Sports Ground for their next fixture on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, third-placed Ajax Cape Town will hope for a much more positive outcome than Stellenbosch, when they travel to Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium to visit Real Kings on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors, who are currently four points behind the leaders, will be backing fellow Capetonians Cape Umoya United to beat second-placed Royal Eagles away at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday.
Umoya, who will host TS Galaxy in the quarterfinal of the Nedbank Cup tonight, have the extra motivation of pushing for a spot in the top eight for what would be an amazing turnaround to what was an inconsistent start to their debut campaign.
Meanwhile, Ubuntu Cape Town will continue their battle to move further away from the relegation zone on Saturday, when they welcome TS Sporting to the Athlone Stadium.
