Things didn’t go as planned in the Nedbank Cup qualifiers for the Mother City’s Glad Africa Championship teams this past weekend.
Only Ajax Cape Town progressed after beating Richards Bay 2-1 away at Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.
The Urban Warriors will be entered into the last 32 draw alongside the 16 top-flight teams, eight ABC Motsepe League teams and eight NFD teams.
It was a tough start for Maahier Davids as the new head coach of Cape Umoya United as they were beaten 1-0 by defending champs TS Galaxy away at Kameelrivier Stadium on Sunday.
Davids was appointed to replace Dominic Isaacs last week to much excitement owing to the work he did behind the scenes with older brother Fadlu Davids at Maritzburg United.

Steenberg United also played away and were also knocked out of the national cup tournament, losing 3-1 to Real Kings at Chatsworth Stadium on Friday.

Kicking things off are Ajax Cape Town in a highly-anticipated encounter against second-placed JDR Stars at Athlone Stadium on Friday.
Cape Umoya United will travel to Kabokweni Stadium to visit TS Sporting on Saturday afternoon, while Steenberg hit the road against to take on Jomo Cosmos.
