I don't know about you but I found Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka’s behaviour as he was subbed unacceptable.
His actions (swearing at the fans and throwing his shirt on the ground) will no doubt force the club into revoking his captaincy and possibly end his stay at the Emirates.
Ironically, this will be music to the ears of most Gooners who have always criticised the Swiss liability.
His open letter to Arsenal fans last week explaining that he’d reached “boiling point” following abuse, (including threats to his family) will be heard, but probably not accepted in mitigation.
Part of becoming a successful top-end player is controlling emotion.
I feel a bit sorry for him and hope he isn’t sold because he’s always good for a penalty or big mistake!
Anyway, onto the League Cup and what a mad one at Anfield great game for the neutrals and another super k@k day for the Arsenal.
On paper they should have walked it, but multiple lapses of concentration threw it away.
BRILLIANT: Rashford scores a stunning goal to help his side to the victory. Picture: Eddie Keogh/Reuters.
At the Bridge, Marcus Rashford’s free kick was a game winner and deservedly so.
The Blues fielding 10 changes to the previous weekend’s team just weren’t good enough.
It was close, could have gone either way, but United can take it.
Personally, I think the fewer fronts Ole has to deal with the better.
Those of us who understand the English game properly, know that the League Cup ain’t worth sh!t anymore.
It’s a great platform to blood youngsters, but there’s bigger fish to fight for.
Talking about big fish, bit of a tasty one this Sunday!
RIVALRY: Liverpool and Man City to battle. Picture: Supplied.
Liverpool host Man City at Anfield.
I wonder if you’ll agree with me when I say, Liverpool haven’t looked that great this season?
Yes, of course they’re winning games, but not with the fluidity and frightening tempo of last season.
It’s been choppy at times, especially up front, with the triple threat not clicking 100 percent.
City have also dropped the consistency, but when they’re on, they’re ON. And I have a sneaking feeling that they will reignite the early jostling by grabbing all three points.
Both sides had unconvincing wins on the weekend, but you could also say both fought until the end and achieved their results.
Elsewhere, there’s not much else to really get excited about.
Chelsea have lots of promise, playing good football and are in a deserved fourth position.
Likewise, Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers look a proper outfit.
After watching United, Spurs and Arsenal this weekend, I’d be surprised if any of them make Champions League.
Poor old Ole, just as it looked like there was a glimpse of a turn in form Bournemouth!
RED CARD: Heung-Min Son. Picture: Andrew Yates/Reuters.
And what a sad one at Goodison, of course whoever you support, you don’t want to see the kind of horrific injury Andre Gomes suffered at Everton on Sunday.
The type that could threaten his career.
For me, the best player on the pitch on the night best wishes to him.
Still not clear why Heung-Min Son got a red card? His initial tackle was possibly a yellow, it was the accidental coming-together with Serge Aurier that caused the damage.
Everyone, including staff, players and fans looked traumatised.
And lastly... What a time to be a South African I hope all you Capetonian Motherhakas are feeling the pain!
