The NFD title is for Stellenbosch to lose now as they now hold a comfortable seven-point lead at the top with 11 matches left to play.

The league leaders continued their winning ways at their Idas Valley Sports Ground fortress, beating Ubuntu Cape Town 2-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Cape Umoya United set off the winning feeling for the Cape sides this weekend’s league encounters with a 1-0 over TS Galaxy at Athlone Stadium on Friday.

Sipho Senne netted for Umoya to secure a seven-match unbeaten run that sees them open up a four-point gap from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory away against Maccabi FC at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a freekick by Dutch debutant Thomas Verhaar.

The Urban Warriors are back in second place with Mbombela United and Royal Eagles hot on their tail a point behind.

Ubuntu Cape Town will host Jomo Cosmos at Athlone Stadium on Friday, while Stellies travel to Kanyamazane Stadium on Saturday to visit Mbombela United.

Cape Umoya will also hit the road this weekend to take on Richards Bay Umhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday.
