Meisies vannie Kaap played a key role in the success of Banyana Banyana this year.

There were three players in the squad: goalkeeper Roxanne Barker, Leandra Smeda and Jermaine Seoposenwe.

The starting keeper Kaylin Swart and Player of Tournament and top scorer Thembi Kgatlana played for Bush (UWC Ladies) in the Sasol League.

We all know head coach Desiree Ellis, but not many of you know about performance analyst Shilene Booysen.

A former goalkeeper turned goalkeeper coach and scout with a Caf A qualification. Recognise my broer!

The oldest member in the Banyana Banyana squad at the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations was Noko Matlou. The 33-year-old lady from Limpopo still remains the only South African player, male or female, to win the Caf Footballer of the Year award.

This was back when she was a terrorising striker, but has since been converted into a defender and has become a key figure in Banyana conceding only two the whole tournament.

She’s seen it all in Banyana colours and now gets to be part a historic first appearance at a World Cup.
