Jose Mourinho’s reign at Manchester United has become a parody of his great career.
Coming into his dreaded third season, his doom is written on the wall again.
In his first and second stints at Chelsea and Real Madrid, the Portuguese was a dead man walking with his employers always giving himself rope to hang himself.
At United, they have given him the spade to dig his own grave too.
Reports claim that it’s only a matter of time now, with some saying that if he loses at Burnley this week, it’s tickets.
Others claim he might not see the end of September.
And depending on the Champions League draw, his fate could rest on the team’s progression to the knockout stage.
However long Jose lasts at Manchester United depends solely on him.
Mense can point fingers at players for being unprofessional and having too much power or you can blame CEO Ed Woodward for not getting Jose the players he wants.
The fact of the matter is that Jose is a negative man who coaches negative football and now his credit is in the negative.
What he needs to do is fix his defence - the area in which he wanted to strengthen over the offseason.
He has clearly scapegoated Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, both of whom are his own signings. The club want him to add value to that investment, but Jose has not improved them. And that is his job.
His other job is keeping his players happy. And he is failing to do that too. He is botsing with almal and none of those players have kicked on in their game, even though Paul Pogba showed that he can be a leader and inspirational for France in Russia.
But it’s like we’ve seen this movie before. And it’s just become part of Jose’s story.
Just like his press conference on Monday, showing up three fingers, he asked what does it mean and his 3-0 pak by Spurs.
Three goals, also three Premier League titles and maybe three years.
